Oris brought a new Muppet to Geneva Watch Days 2026. The Big Crown ProPilot X Gonzo Edition follows the brand's earlier Muppets watches, and like the best of them it hides a piece of real watchmaking inside a design that looks, at first, like a novelty. This one is built on the ProPilot X Calibre 115, the most serious movement in the ProPilot X line, and the collaboration lands where the watch is most technical: on the mainspring itself.
A skeleton in Gonzo's colours
The case is the familiar multi-piece ProPilot X, machined from titanium at 44mm across, 12.6mm thick and 52mm from lug to lug, water resistant to 100m and closed on a titanium bracelet with Oris's folding clasp. The coin-edged bezel and the exposed screws are unchanged. What changes is the colour. The skeletonised dial runs from blue at the top through purple and red to orange and yellow at the base, a gradient drawn from Gonzo's own palette, with the bridges finished in those shades rather than the usual grey. The chapter ring is a pale blue, and the printing keeps the ProPilot X's technical look, down to the ten-day marking on the movement.
The face on the mainspring
The detail that gives the watch its point sits where almost nobody would think to decorate. The outer edge of the mainspring has been laser-etched with a drawing of Gonzo's face. When the watch is fully wound the spring is coiled tight and the portrait reads clearly through the openworked dial. Over the following ten days, as the barrel unwinds and the spring relaxes, the image stretches and dissolves, then reforms the next time the watch is wound. It is a way of making the state of the power reserve visible without a hand or a scale, and it turns the act of winding into the joke.

The movement and the numbers
The Calibre 115 is the reason the joke works. It is a hand-wound, in-house Oris movement with a single large barrel and a ten-day, 240-hour power reserve, normally read on a non-linear power-reserve indicator that Oris patented to keep the display accurate as the torque falls off. Skeletonising it exposes the barrel and the going train, which is what makes the etched mainspring readable in the first place.
The watch comes in a wooden presentation box and is sold on the titanium bracelet as reference 01 115 7759 7180-Set. Oris lists it at CHF 8,500, with quoted prices of GBP 7,900 and USD 10,500 in other markets. That is a lot for a Muppets watch and not much for a hand-finished ten-day skeleton, which is roughly the tension Oris has been playing with in this series from the start. The difference this time is that the gag and the mechanism are the same part.
